Rabi ul Awwal Umrah Packages from the UK

Rabi ul Awwal is the third month of the Islamic calendar and the month the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born. It is also the month he arrived in Madinah after the Hijrah, and the month the first mosque was built at Quba. Islamic Travel UK Rabi ul Awwal Umrah packages start from £913 per person and include return flights from the UK, your Umrah visa, help with your Nusuk permit, hotels in Makkah and Madinah, and all transfers. Every booking is protected under ATOL 12192. In 2027, Rabi ul Awwal falls in August. That is the hottest time of year in Saudi Arabia, which is why prices are lower than in winter. We explain below what that means in practice, so you can decide whether it suits your family.

When is Rabi ul Awwal in 2027?

Rabi ul Awwal 1449 is expected to begin on or around 3 August 2027 and end on or around 1 September 2027. The 12th of Rabi ul Awwal, observed by many Muslims as Milad un Nabi, is expected to fall on or around 14 August 2027. All these dates depend on the moon sighting and may shift by a day or two.

The whole month falls inside the UK school summer holidays, so families do not need to take children out of school. That also means flights sell out early. Book three to four months ahead.

What the August heat actually means

Makkah in August reaches 43°C to 45°C in the day. Madinah is a degree or two cooler but still very hot. This is the main reason Umrah costs less at this time of year, and you should plan around it rather than be surprised by it.

What our pilgrims do:

  • Pray Fajr, then do your Tawaf. The marble is cool before sunrise and the courtyard is bearable.
  • Stay indoors between Dhuhr and Asr. Rest in the hotel. This is why a hotel close to the Haram matters more in August than at any other time.
  • Go back out after Maghrib. Evenings are pleasant and the Haram is at its best.
  • Drink Zamzam constantly. More than you think you need.
  • Use the covered and air-conditioned areas. The lower floors and the basement of the Haram are cooled.

Who should think twice: families with babies, pilgrims over about 70, anyone with a heart or breathing condition, and anyone who struggles in heat. If that is you, look at December Umrah packages from the UK instead, when Makkah is around 30°C, or at Umrah packages 2027 for other times of year.

Who it suits: fit adults, teenagers, and families who are happy to work around the middle of the day. Thousands of British pilgrims go every August and manage it perfectly well.

Prices are per person based on sharing a room, and they vary with flight and hotel availability. Every package includes return flights, Umrah visa, Nusuk permit help, hotels in both cities and all transfers.

In August, we would push you towards a hotel closer to the Haram than you might otherwise choose. A ten-minute walk that is nothing in December is hard work at 44°C. If your budget is tight, spend it on the Makkah hotel rather than on extra nights.

Why pilgrims choose Rabi ul Awwal

It is the Prophet's month. He was born in Makkah in this month, and he arrived in Madinah in this month after the Hijrah. Standing in Masjid an-Nabawi and giving salaam at the Rawdah in Rabi ul Awwal means something to most people who do it.

It is quiet. Nothing like Ramadan. You can complete Tawaf and Sa'i without a crush and pray far closer to the Kaaba than you could in winter.

It costs less. The heat keeps demand down, so hotels and flights are cheaper than at almost any other time.

The school holidays line up. The entire month falls in the UK summer break.

One thing to know: Madinah gets noticeably busier around the 12th of Rabi ul Awwal. If you want to be there for those days, book your Madinah hotel first and early.

We should also be straight with you about the reward. Umrah is rewarded whenever you perform it. There is no authentic narration saying Umrah in Rabi ul Awwal carries extra reward, the way there is for Ramadan. People go in this month because of what happened in it and how it feels to be there. That is a good enough reason on its own.
