Non-Shifting Hajj Packages 2027 from the UK

A non-shifting Hajj package means you keep the same hotel room in Makkah for your whole trip, including the five days of Hajj. Your room, your bed and your luggage stay where they are while you go to Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah, and they are waiting for you each time you return. Every Hajj package from Islamic Travel is non-shifting. Prices start from £6,495 per person with four sharing, and every booking is protected under ATOL 12192.

Hajj

Non-shifting Hajj

  • What it means: your Makkah hotel room is kept for you during the days of Hajj. You do not check out
  • What it does not mean: you still stay in the tents at Mina and at Arafat and Muzdalifah, like every pilgrim
  • Who it suits: families, older pilgrims, anyone who finds walking or carrying luggage hard, and anyone who wants proper rest between the days of Hajj
  • Cost: more than a shifting package, because the hotel charges for your room on the busiest nights of the year
  • Our packages: four non-shifting packages for Hajj 2027, from £6,495 to £9,095 per person

Shifting or non-shifting: what is the difference?

The difference is what happens to your Makkah hotel room during the days of Hajj. On a shifting package, you check out before Hajj begins and check back in afterwards. On a non-shifting package, you keep your room throughout.

Both types of package include the same core things: flights, Hajj visa, Nusuk registration, Mina tents, transport, Qurbani and guidance. The difference is only the hotel arrangement.

What non-shifting means on each day of Hajj

Here is what a non-shifting package looks like in practice, day by day.

Before 8 Dhul Hijjah. You are in your Makkah hotel. You perform Umrah if you are doing Hajj Tamattu, and you rest.

8 Dhul Hijjah, the day of Tarwiyah. You enter Ihram and travel to Mina by coach. You stay in your tent at Mina. Your hotel room stays booked. You take only what you need for the next few days.

9 Dhul Hijjah, the Day of Arafah. You travel from Mina to Arafat in the morning and spend the day there. After sunset, you go to Muzdalifah and spend the night in the open.

10 Dhul Hijjah, Eid al-Adha. You return to Mina for the first stoning. Your Qurbani is done for you. Many pilgrims then go to Makkah for Tawaf al-Ifadah. On a non-shifting package, you can go back to your hotel room, shower, change and rest before returning to Mina.

11 and 12 Dhul Hijjah. You stone the three pillars each day. You return to Mina to sleep, or, depending on the group schedule, to your hotel. Either way, your room is there.

After Hajj. You go back to your hotel, rest properly, perform the farewell Tawaf, and travel to Madinah or home.

On a shifting package, the days from 10 Dhul Hijjah onwards are where the difference is felt most. You have no room to go back to, and you are carrying your bags.

Who should choose a non-shifting Hajj package?

Non-shifting is the right choice for most UK pilgrims, and the only sensible choice for some.

  • Families with children. Somewhere to wash, rest and keep a routine between the days of Hajj.
  • Older pilgrims. The days of Hajj involve long walks in heat. A proper bed in between makes them possible.
  • Pilgrims with health conditions or reduced mobility. Medication, rest and a quiet room matter.
  • Women travelling in a group. A fixed, secure room for the whole trip.
  • Anyone doing Hajj once in their life who wants to spend it in worship rather than carrying luggage.

A shifting package is a reasonable choice only for fit, experienced pilgrims on a very tight budget who are happy with basic conditions for five days.

We decided some years ago to offer only non-shifting packages. We found that the money saved on a shifting package was rarely worth the difficulty it caused, and that most of the complaints we heard from pilgrims who had travelled with other agencies came down to this one thing.

How much does a non-shifting Hajj package cost?

Our non-shifting Hajj packages for 2027 cost from £6,495 to £9,095 per person with four sharing a room. A non-shifting package usually costs £500 to £1,500 more than an equivalent shifting package, because the hotel charges for your room on the nights of Hajj, when Makkah is full.

Questions people ask about non-shifting Hajj

What does non-shifting mean in a Hajj package?

It means your Makkah hotel room is kept for you during the five days of Hajj. You do not check out when you go to Mina, and your room and luggage are waiting when you come back.

Do I still stay in a tent at Mina on a non-shifting package?

Yes. Every pilgrim stays at Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah. Non-shifting only changes what happens to your hotel room in Makkah.

Is non-shifting worth the extra cost?

For families, older pilgrims and anyone who needs rest, yes. The extra £500 to £1,500 buys a proper bed, a shower and somewhere to leave your bags during the hardest days of the trip.

Are all Islamic Travel Hajj packages non-shifting?

Yes. We only sell non-shifting packages. We do not offer a shifting option.

How far is the hotel from the Haram on a non-shifting package?

Our 3-star hotels are a 10 to 15 minute walk or a short shuttle ride from the Haram. Our 5-star hotel is about ten minutes' walk. Your quote names the hotel and gives the distance.

Can I get a non-shifting Hajj package from Manchester or Birmingham?

Yes. We fly from London, Birmingham and Manchester, and we arrange connections from other UK airports on one ticket.

Is my money protected?

Yes. Every package with flights is protected under ATOL 12192. You receive an ATOL Certificate when you book.
