Umrah

What's included in our All-inclusive Umrah packages

Every all-inclusive package covers the essentials, so there are no surprises:

  • Return flights from your nearest UK airport (London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and others)
  • Umrah visa processing
  • Hotel accommodation in both Makkah and Madinah, close to the Haram
  • Airport transfers and ground transport in Saudi Arabia
  • Ziyarat tours of the holy sites (included or optional, depending on the package)
  • Support before and during your trip from our UK team

Meals and optional extras vary by package. We will confirm exactly what's included before you pay. The main difference between our 3, 4 and 5-star packages is hotel quality and how close you stay to the Haram — not what's covered. We'll always tell you exactly what you're paying for before you commit.

Our 3, 4 & 5-Star Packages Compared

We offer Umrah packages for 7, 10, 12 and 14 nights to suit different budgets and time off work.

3-Star (Budget) From £249pp. Comfortable, clean economy hotels, typically a short shuttle or walk from the Haram. Best for first-time pilgrims and those travelling on a budget.

4-Star (Deluxe) From 279pp. Hotels noticeably closer to the Haram, with more space and better facilities. Our most popular choice for families.

5-Star (Luxury) From 339pp. Premium hotels within 1–2 minutes' walk of the Haram, including names like the Makkah Clock Royal Tower, Fairmont Makkah, Madinah Hilton, Dar Al Taqwa and Dar Al Iman.

When to Go — Honest Seasonal Advice

Timing makes a real difference to both price and the experience on the ground:

  • Ramadan is the most spiritually rewarding time to perform Umrah, but it's also the busiest and most expensive. Book 4–6 months ahead.
  • June to August tends to be cheaper, but Saudi summer temperatures regularly hit the low 40s°C — worth knowing if you're travelling with children or elderly relatives.
  • September to November is quieter and usually more affordable, with milder weather.
  • Dhul-Qadah, Shawwal, Rabi al-Awwal and Jamad al-Awwal are typically the cheapest months, with lower demand outside the Ramadan and Hajj peaks.

For off-peak travel, booking 2–3 months ahead is usually enough. For Ramadan or the December/Easter school holidays, book 4–6 months ahead to secure the better hotels before they fill.

When is the best (and cheapest) time to go?

Prices and crowds change a lot through the year:

  • Quietest and most affordable: the off-peak months outside Ramadan and the Hajj season — typically the periods after Ramadan (Shawwal) and before Hajj (Dhul-Qa'dah), plus the autumn months.
  • Busiest and priciest: Ramadan, school holidays (December, Easter, February–May half-terms) and the run-up to Hajj.

Summer trips can be cheaper but very hot, with temperatures in Saudi Arabia reaching the low 40s°C. If you're flexible, travelling off-peak can save a meaningful amount per person.

Flights from Your Nearest UK Airport

We arrange flights from across the UK, including direct services where available:

  • London (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted): direct flights to Jeddah and Madinah with Saudia and British Airways
  • Birmingham & Manchester: direct and one-stop options with Saudia, Turkish Airlines, Emirates and Qatar Airways
  • Glasgow & Edinburgh: connecting flights via major hubs

Direct flights reach Jeddah or Madinah in roughly 6–7 hours. If you'd prefer a stopover in a Muslim-friendly destination, we can arrange that too.

Family & Group Umrah Packages

We arrange tailor-made packages for families and groups, and the per-person cost usually drops the more of you travel together:

  • Family packages (2–3 people) — from £595 per person for a duration of 10 days, with 5 days in Makkah and 5 days in Madinah, covering visa, flights, hotels, and transport.
  • Group packages (7, 10, 15, 25 and 50+ pilgrims) — from £690 per head with a 2-week stay. These group packages cover visas, flights, quad-sharing rooms in Makkah and Madinah, shared transportation and Ziyarat visits.

We can also arrange specific support on request, like folding beds for infants, wheelchair assistance through the Haram, dietary requirements, and rooms within walking distance of the holy sites for elderly or less mobile pilgrims. Just let us know in advance so we can plan properly.

Visa & Requirements for UK Pilgrims

A few things worth knowing before you book:

  • An Umrah visa is valid for 30 days and covers Makkah, Madinah and Jeddah.
  • Under current Saudi rules, you must apply through a certified travel agency like Islamic Travel. You can't self-apply for a visit visa from the UK.
  • You'll need a valid passport (6+ months validity), recent photos, and your travel dates. We review and submit everything for you.
  • Visa processing generally takes 6–8 working days. We coordinate directly with the Hajj & Umrah authorities to keep it moving.
  • According to the latest Saudi visa rules, pilgrims must book accommodation in advance. Obtain valid travel insurance and an ACWY meningitis vaccination certificate.
  • Recently Saudi Arabia has changed the Mahram rules. Women can perform Umrah without any Mahram. Women of any age can travel, stay in hotels, and visit the country entirely independently.

Why Pilgrims Choose Islamic Travel?

  • ATOL-protected: your money is financially secure under ATOL 12192. If you don't receive an ATOL Certificate, your package isn't protected. So always check.
  • UK office, real people: based in Stratford, London, with a team available 24/7 on 0203-970-4500 or WhatsApp.
  • Beat My Quote: found a cheaper genuine like-for-like quote? Send it to us, and we'll try to beat it.
  • 10000+ pilgrims have been helped since 2013.
  • Flexible payment: book now, pay later options and instalment plans, all through a secure ATOL-protected portal.

How far in advance should you book?

As a rough guide:

  • Off-peak Umrah: 2–3 months ahead
  • Ramadan Umrah: 4–6 months ahead
  • December / winter-holiday Umrah: 4–5 months ahead

Booking earlier almost always means better hotel choices and lower flight prices.

How long does it take to perform Umrah?

It takes 2-4 hours to perform Umrah rituals, depending on the crowd in Holy Haram. This covers entering Ihram, performing Tawaf, Sa'i, and Halq/Taqsir.

How many days do I need for an Umrah trip?

Most UK pilgrims travel for 7 to 14 nights. A 7-night trip is enough to perform Umrah and spend time in both Makkah and Madinah, while 10 to 14 nights allows a more relaxed pace, extra prayers and fuller Ziyarat tours. Islamic Travel offers 7, 10, 12 and 14-night packages to suit your time and budget.

What is Ihram, and what do I wear for Umrah?

Ihram is the sacred state a pilgrim enters before performing Umrah, along with the simple clothing worn in that state. Men wear two unstitched white cloths; women wear modest, plain clothing that covers the body, leaving the face and hands uncovered. Pilgrims must wear Ihram before entering the Miqat.

Do I need any vaccinations for Umrah?

Saudi Arabia requires proof of the meningococcal (ACWY) vaccine for Umrah pilgrims. We'll confirm the current health requirements when you book.

Can women perform Umrah without a Mahram?

Saudi rules on women travelling for Umrah without a Mahram have changed in recent years. And the current position can depend on age and circumstances. We keep up to date with the latest requirements and will advise you on exactly what applies to your situation before you book.

Can I take children or infants on Umrah?

Yes, children and infants can travel for Umrah. And Islamic Travel arranges family-friendly packages with suitable rooms and support, such as folding beds for infants. Let us book your packages with us, we'll recommend hotels and room types that work well for families.

How close to the Haram will my hotel be?

It depends on the type of package. Our 5-star hotels are typically within a 1–2 minute walk of the Haram, 4-star hotels are a short walk away, and 3-star hotels are usually a brief walk or shuttle ride. We'll always tell you the exact hotel and its distance from the Haram before you confirm.

Are meals included in the package?

It totally depends on the type of package you book with us or the customisation of the package. Some include breakfast, while others are room-only so you can choose where to eat. We'll confirm exactly what meals are included before you pay. And we can arrange specific dietary requirements on request.

Can I combine Umrah with a stopover in another city?

Yes. We can arrange Umrah with a stopover in a Muslim-friendly destination such as Dubai, Egypt or Turkey. Build a tailor-made itinerary around your plans. Let us know your requirements and we'll put together a package that includes the extra leg.

Is travel insurance included in your Umrah packages?

Travel insurance is not automatically included, and we strongly recommend arranging suitable cover for your trip. We can advise on what to look for in a policy for Umrah travel. Separately, your package itself is financially protected under ATOL 12192.

Can I customise or tailor-make my Umrah package?

Yes. Islamic Travel is offering customised Umrah packages to British Muslims. They can select their dates, departure airport, hotel preferences, ziyarat tours, and meal plans. Use our Beat My Quote form or call us to start.
